This package is for families who are giving birth within my regular service area via planned c-section.
I believe that every family benefits from compassionate and respectful support, regardless of how they choose or need to give birth. Although surgical births can be intimidating, doula support can alleviate fears and guide you through your options, helping you confident and prepared to meet your baby.
Exactly what support I am able to offer will partially depend on hospital policy, but in most cases, I am able to be with you from pre-op through surgery and into recovery. I work to foster solid relationships with care providers and hospitals in my area.
Free consultation Meet, answer your questions, discuss my services, and talk about what you're looking for.
Prenatal Visit Prenatal visits are usually in your home. We will spend time getting to know each other, discuss your vision for your birth and my role as part of your support team, talk through your preferences for your birth and newborn care, and plan for your postpartum time. I can provide prenatal education, answer your questions, discuss your pain management options and surgical preferences, suggest exercises to help alleviate pregnancy pain or discomfort, and help you feel confident and ready for the birth of your baby.
Birth Support I will arrive at your hospital before your birth to provide emotional support and help you prepare for surgery. As much as your care team allows, I will stay with you from pre-op through surgery and recovery. I offer a wide variety of support methods that are tailored to meet your needs, including:
Calm and reassuring presence
Verbal encouragement and reassurance
Explanations of what is happening during surgery
Emotional support
Physical support, such as calming touch and staying by your side while your partner is with your baby
Aromatherapy
Support with birth affirmations and breathing
Assisting you in gathering the information you need to make the best decisions for your family
Helping you understand your options
Advocating for your choices and supporting communication with your care team
Facilitating skin-to-skin and breastfeeding in the OR, if desired and possible
Taking pictures of your birth and first moments with your baby
Keeping family members informed as you desire
Encouraging and supporting your partner throughout the process
Immediate Postpartum Support Care and support in the 2+ hours immediately after birth, including assistance with newborn feeding and helping you settle in after the birth of your baby.
Postpartum Visit In person, phone, or Zoom visit within the first few weeks of birth, to discuss your birth experience, provide baby feeding support and care tips as needed/desired, and help you find any resources you may need, etc.
All of my doula support packages include: *On call support via phone, text, and email. I'm on call for you as soon as we agree to work together. *Photos from your birth, if desired and discussed at your prenatal visit *Access to my lending library of books related to pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and more *Referrals to practitioners with whom I have established relationships, if needed *$50 off placenta encapsulation services
Investment My scheduled c-section package is valued at $500 for families who are delivering within 60 miles of Mora, MN, in my regular service area. I am sometimes able to travel farther into rural Minnesota for an additional $200 travel fee -- please contact me!
A $300 deposit will reserve your place on my calendar. This is non-refundable because I will be declining other potential clients due in the same timeframe. The balance is due by 37 weeks. Cards, check, cash, and HSA funds are accepted. I am also able to work with Allina employee reimbursement and similar employee benefit programs.
I am passionate about being able to support families. If you are interested in working with me, but finances are a concern, send me a message so we can work out a payment plan or other arrangement.
Birth is not only about making babies. Birth is about making mothers -- strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength. -- Barbara Katz Rothman
