Birth Doula Support

Free Consultation
Meet in person, by phone, or on Zoom to review how doula support works, answer your questions, discuss your plans/goals and decide if we are a good fit for each other.

Prenatal Appointments

I offer appointments in person at my office space in Mora, and occasionally virtually or in a client's home. At our appointments, we will get to know each other, discuss your vision for your birth and my role as part of your support team, and talk through your options and preferences for your birth, postpartum, and newborn care. I will provide prenatal education, practice labor techniques and positions with you, answer your questions and concerns, guide you through preparing a birth plan, help you plan for your postpartum time and breastfeeding, and more. My standard package includes 1-2 prenatal appointments depending on what is best for you, with additional appointments available if desired. Click here to read more about prenatal visits.

Birth Support
Early in labor, we will connect through text messages and phone calls. When you are ready for me to join you, I will quietly and respectfully enter your space, intuitively providing continuous support tailored to your needs.

Some of the support techniques I offer include:

  •  My calm and reassuring presence, knowledge, and guidance
  •  Verbal encouragement and affirmation
  •  Coaching through contractions
  • Breathing techniques
  •  Encouraging your partner through the process while providing gentle guidance on how to support you
  •  Positioning suggestions to promote an easier birth or relieve discomfort
  •  Physical support, such as counterpressure, massage, and hip squeezes
  •  Additional comfort measures, including aromatherapy, TENS unit, and other options
  • Supporting you through an epidural and other pain medications, if you want them
  • Facilitating communication with your care team so you can make the best decisions for your family
  • Advocating for your choices
  • Answering your and your partner's questions as they arise throughout the labor and birth process
  • Reassuring you of what is normal and what options you have
  • Emotional support
  • Candid photos and videos of your labor and birth, as you desire

Immediate Postpartum
I will continue to support your family in the 1-2 hours immediately after birth, including supporting you through the delivery of the placenta, assisting with breastfeeding, taking photos, answering questions, and helping you settle in after the birth of your baby. If there are special circumstances, such as your baby going to NICU, I am available to stay with you longer.

Postpartum Visit
I'll meet with you in your home or by phone at least once in the first few days/weeks after your baby's arrival to discuss your birth experience and transition to life with a new baby, provide breastfeeding support and infant care support as needed/desired, and to help you find any resources you may need. I'm also available by text or phone for any breastfeeding questions, infant sleep and care questions, emotional support, and other help you may need in the days and weeks following your birth.

All of my clients receive:
*On call support via phone, text, and email. I'm on call for you as soon as we agree to work together through 6 weeks postpartum.
*Photos from your birth, if desired and discussed at your prenatal visit.
*Access to my lending library of books related to pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and more.
*Craniosacral therapy for your baby at your postpartum appointment, as needed/desired.
*Referrals to practitioners with whom I have established relationships, as needed.
*$50 off placenta encapsulation services.

Investment
My birth doula package is valued at $1400.
If desired, additional prenatal and postpartum appointments are available at $100 each (see below for details).

A 50% deposit will reserve your place on my calendar. This is nonrefundable -- I accept a limited number of clients per month so that I can serve you well and may turn down other inquiries close to your due date. The balance is due by 37 weeks.  Cards, check, cash, and HSA funds are accepted, and I can also provide the documentation you need to seek reimbursement from your private insurance provider, health sharing plan, or HSA.

I'm passionate about providing support for families who need it. If you are interested in working with me but finances are a concern, schedule a consultation so we can talk about your situation.

How Many Appointments Do I Need?
That's up to you! I offer a flexible package model so that you only pay for the support that you need.

My standard package with two prenatals and one postpartum visit may be a good fit for families who who meet one or more of the following:
*Primarily want support for labor & birth and aren't seeking extensive prenatal or postpartum doula care
*Self-motivated to prepare for their birth
*Receiving comprehensive care from an out-of-hospital midwife
*Feel confident with their doctor or midwife
*Have been generally happy with their previous birth(s)
*Have worked with a doula previously and feel educated on their choices

Additional appointments may be a good fit for families who are:
*Seeking more comprehensive doula care with additional prenatal preparation
*Wanting to take a deep dive into birth preparation and/or have lots of questions
*Processing a traumatizing or difficult birth experience in the past and want additional guidance/encouragement/support as they prepare for a very different experience
*Planning a VBAC
*Not getting the education and support they want from their provider

During our consultation, we can discuss your needs and how many appointments may be right for you. For many families, my standard package is just right. I will never try to sell you more appointments than are needed and am flexible as needs change/arise during your pregnancy.
